Sir James Dunn Animal Welfare Graduate Scholarship at UPEI in Canada, 2015/16

James Dunn Animal Welfare GraduateThe SJDAWC is very pleased to announce a new animal welfare graduate scholarship. The Sir James Dunn Animal Welfare Graduate SCHOLARSHIP will support the training of researchers at the masters or doctoral level to pursue animal welfare research at the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada. Both applied or more fundamental approaches to research pertaining to animal welfare are welcome. Applications for 2015-2016 will be accepted until May 25, 2015, with decision expected by the end of June. Students may take up their award at any time of the year but must do so within 12 months of the date of the letter of offer. 

Since 1994, generous support from the Sir James Dunn and Christofor Foundations has provided a stable foundation for the Sir James Dunn Animal Welfare Centre (SJDAWC) at the Atlantic Veterinary College, UPEI.  The Centre is very grateful to the Christofor Foundation for its renewed commitment for 2015 to 2020, which includes funding for the new scholarhips

This competition is open to any candidate who meets the admission criteria for graduate studies at UPEI. Students who receive the award for support of a Masters program are eligible to apply again for support for a subsequent PhD program. This award may be held simultaneously with other awards.

Eligibility
An applicant must be qualified for admission to  full-time graduate study and working toward a  graduate degree in an accredited college or university in the United States or Canada.  A  student does not need to be enrolled at the time of application.
A copy of the applicant’s confirmation of admission must be received by the P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship office by April 1 in order to complete the application. This notice must specify the graduate degree program. No consideration will be given to applicants lacking evidence of admission.

The Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Scholarships provide more than 340 annual Scholarships of $1,000 each.The scholarships are designed to recognize the excellence of Alberta apprentices in a trade, and trainees in a designated occupation, and to encourage recipients to complete their apprenticeship or occupational training programs. This Scholarship Program is cosponsored by the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board, Private Industry and Alberta Enterprise and Advanced Education.

  • Be registered as an Alberta apprentice in a trade
  • Have passed their first or subsequent period apprenticeship and industry training exam between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012, and
  • Have at least one more period of technical training remaining in their program.
  • To be eligible for an Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Scholarship in trades with only one period of training
