Oslo Institute of Basic Medical Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Norway, 2015
University of
Oslo invites applicants to submit application for post-doctoral research
fellowship for three years at the Institute of Molecular Medicine.
The Institute
of Basic Medical Sciences consists of departments
and units that pursue research and education within basic medical science. The institute has approximately 340 employs and is located in the Domus Medica.
and units that pursue research and education within basic medical science. The institute has approximately 340 employs and is located in the Domus Medica.
The position
is linked to a project on molecular mechanisms involved in delirium and
dementia run by a consortium including basic scientists and clinicians. The
recruited scientist will be directly linked to the Chaudhry group investigating
glutamine transporters and their functional roles in the recycling of
neurotransmitters, neuronal signaling and neuropathology. See e.g. Hamdani et
al., Glia, 2012; Nissen-Meyer et al., J Neurosci, 2011; Jenstad et al., Cereb Cortex, 2009; Chaudhry et
al., Cell, 1999. For more information
The project
will be run in close cooperation with Department of Geriatric Medicine at
Institute of Clinical Medicine. This department is located at Oslo University
Hospital at Ullevaal, and holds a large portifolio of clinical projects in
dementia and delirium. The clinical research part of the consortium is headed
by Professor Torgeir Bruun Wyller
(see http://www.med.uio.no/klinmed/english/people/aca/tbwyller/index.html).
In addition, the candidate will work with the groups of Professor Nenad
Bogdanovic and Senior Scientist Bjørnar Hassel.
The candidate
will generate genetically modified mice, characterize their phenotype and carry
out research to elucidate molecular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of
delirium and dementia.
The fellowship
period is 3 years, beginning as soon as possible.
The main
purpose of post-doctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for
work in higher academic positions within their disciplines.
No one can be
appointed as a post-docoral fellow for more than one specified period at the
same institution.
