2015, Victoria Masters Scholarships in New Zealand

Scholarship Introduction

To encourage postgraduate research at Victoria, the University offers scholarships to students about to begin a full-time, research-focused



Master’s degree. 

Over thirty scholarships shall be offered, consisting of a $15,000 stipend, plus domestic fees. International students, other than those from Australia will be liable to pay the difference between the full international student fee and the domestic fee

Applicants undertaking a 180 point Master’s degree will not be eligible for this scholarship unless they are undertaking a thesis component of at least 90 points (this must be a 90 point thesis paper not a combination of a number of research papers). The scholarship value will be adjusted in this case as per the value below.

Applicants would normally be expected to have completed a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree Part 1 demonstrating academic achievement equivalent to a First-Class Honours degree from a New Zealand University.

Scholarships will be awarded solely on the basis of academic merit by the University Research Scholarships Committee, a sub-committee of the
University Research Committee

Eligibility

Applications are sought from those who are eligible at the time of application, or who will have become eligible within six months of notification, to enrol for a Master’s degree by thesis worth 90 points or more. In some cases this will be Part 2 of a two-year Master’s degree and will usually have the course code 591.

2012-2013 Leigh Marine Climate Time-Series Data Scholarship at University of Auckland, New Zealand




Description 

The Scholarship was established in 2011 and is funded by the Friends of Leigh.

The main purpose of the Scholarship is to support a postgraduate research masters or doctoral student in Marine Science to undertake analysis of marine climate time-series data based on a 45 year dataset collected at Leigh Marine Laboratory.

2012 G B Battersby-Trimble Scholarships in Computer Science, New Zealand




A generous gift was made to the University of Canterbury by the late Dr G B Battersby in 1987 to establish a trust fund for the purpose of the advancement of learning in the computer field in New Zealand.

The income from the trust fund is added to an annual grant from Trimble Navigation N Z Ltd. The Trimble grant has been given in recognition of the long service provided by the late Dr Battersby to the University and to the computing profession.

2012 Patricia Pratt Scholarship in Musical Performance at University of Canterbury, New Zealand




This scholarship has been established by Annette Campbell-White in memory of her mother, Patricia Pratt. Funding for the scholarship is made available through the Kia Ora Foundation founded by Annette Campbell-White for educational purposes.
