2012-2013 Scholarship Awards for International Students at The Albukhary International University (AiU), Malaysia
The Foundation intends to make available ten (10) scholarships for each country to assist disadvantaged youths, mainly Muslim youths, to graduate with a degree from the Albukhary International University.
Instituted in 2003, the Foundation has so far offered the Scholarship to more than 400 students from some 50 countries many of whom are currently studying at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). This Scholarship is now available for students who can apply to begin their studies at AiU in July 2011, starting with the Foundation Studies Programme.
Purpose of the Scholarship
This Scholarship is intended to motivate youth from disadvantaged areas throughout the world who otherwise will not have the financial means to pursue tertiary education to become leaders and contributors in the 21st Century.
Value of the Scholarship Awards
The Scholarship awarded shall include the following:-
Tuition fees
Meals
Accommodation
Uniforms
Insurance and general hospitalisation
Monthly allowances (on a case-to-case basis)
Financial Responsibility of Scholarship Holder
As a measure of his/her commitment, the scholarship holder is expected to pay for the journey from his/her home country to Malaysia as well as the return journey after completion of the degree course. The fees for the passport and/or visa and other related costs are also to be borne by the scholarship holder. In exceptional circumstances, a portion of the travel expenses of scholars may be absorbed by the Albukhary Foundation.
Social Contributions by the Scholars
Aspiring youth who want to succeed in life and to make a meaningful contribution to society will find this Albukhary Foundation Scholarship and the Albukhary International University (AiU) campus a motivating and inspiring experience. Throughout their study period, all scholars are obligated and expected to participate as volunteers in a range of social and community activities in the various social work programmes designed and planned by AiU. These include helping out in the medical and dialysis centre, orphanages, centre for handicapped children, hostel for senior citizens, and other charitable service outlets of the Sharifah Rokiah Knowledge Centre (Pusat Ilmu Sharifah Rokiah) where the campus is located.
The Assistance To Promote AiU
We are seeking assistance from parties interested in promoting AiU to ensure that the scholarship is extended to truly deserving, disadvantaged students of the world. We seek support and assistance from all parties wishing to recommend deserving students for enrollment into AiU in the following areas:
Understanding the education systems and standards in the selected locations in order to determine whether the entry level educational standing of the student, is compatible with the UK GCE ‘O’ Levels, especially in countries outside the Commonwealth. The university intake is for students who have successfully completed 12 years of schooling and who have achieved certain basic scholastic ability in
English and Mathematics
Identifying the cities, towns or village where such deserving students may be residing
Provides avenues for reaching out to, communicating with, and motivating the eligible students and their parents to apply for the scholarship
Join Us To Help The Underprivileged
If you are able to assist the Albukhary Foundation in identifying and contacting eligible student candidates for the scholarships to study at AiU, we will be pleased to hear from you. Alternatively you may know of someone who will be able to help – an NGO representative, a village headman, or a professional service provider such as a Doctor, Accountant or Lawyer who may help us.
