This post is suitable for a psychiatrist wishing to pursue a career in academic global mental health and/or medical education.
The two key academic themes are a) undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in psychiatry and b) interventions for common mental health problems in general health care settings and in people living with HIV. The post holder will be based at the University of Zimbabwe College of Health Science (UZ-CHS) medical school in Harare, strongly supported by supervisors at the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London, who are Dr Melanie Abas and Dr Amy Iversen. Supervisors in Zimbabwe will be Dr Sekai Nhiwatiwa and Dr Frances Cowan.Your role will be to support the Department at UZ-CHS in developing psychiatry teaching while also carrying out a piece of research leading to publications. Your research topic will be selected under close supervision of the two UK supervisors for this post. You will be expected to do two mornings per week of supernumerary in-patient and/or out-patient general adult clinical work, functioning at registrar level.
