Scholarship Description: The Computer Architecture and Languages team at Halmstad University is developing a novel modeling and simulation language called Acumen. The goal is to create a language that can significantly accelerate innovation in the design and production of cyber physical systems. We are seeking a doctoral student interested in developing a visual modeling, simulation, and visualization platform on top of Acumen. This involves developing graphical entry, rendering, and interaction support, devising novel visualization techniques, developing a large and diverse suite of benchmark models and visualization, and developing techniques to formally specify and verify such a platform. Expertise in formal semantics, Scala, functional programming, modeling and simulation are all desirable. The employment as doctoral student concerns individual research studies, research and teaching (up to 20 %) within the subject field.
