University of Essex Scholarship – General Topics of Law
The University support talented PhD students to study at the University. In 2009-2010, scholarships worth a total of more than £723,000 were distributed. The School of Law has a share of the scholarship fund which uses to support students.
Awards are made on a competitive basis to suitable applicants. Normally applicants must possess a good Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree in Law and a Master’s (or equivalent) degree at Merit level. The applicant must also hold an unconditional offer from the University of Essex to be eligible to apply for this Scholarship. These financial awards are tenable subject to satisfactory academic progress for the normal minimum period of study (3 years) leading to the award of a PhD.


Eligibility:

Applicants must hold an offer for PhD studies starting October 2011 in order to apply for this scholarship.

Academic year 2011/12: Applications for this scholarship must reach the School of Law no later than 20 April 2011.

University of Essex Scholarship – Specific Topics of Law

In addition the School of Law also invites applications for scholarships for PhD studies in the following areas:

Animal Welfare
Comparative Law
The scholarships will cover tuition fees for up to 3 years and are available for student who wish to start their studies in October 2011. For general entry requirements for research degrees see the website.

Application Procedure

Applicant should provide a full application for PhD studies. To make an application for PhD studies on line, please see the University’s Online Postgraduate application form. In addition, applicants need to submit a covering letter outlining their financial needs, including whether other resources of funding have been explored, and how they expect to cover their living expenses.

Applicants may be interviewed in person or by telephone.

Academic year 2011/12: Applications for this scholarship must reach the School of Law no later than 16 May 2011.
