A research associate position is available on the MRC funded project “Designing and analysing multi-arm multi-stage clinical trials with one or more endpoints”. The  appointment will be working at the MRC Biostatistics Unit, Cambridge under the supervision of Dr Jack Bowden and Dr James Wason. The position is funded for 3 years, with a start date of 1 September 2012, or as soon as possible thereafter..

In the early stages of drug development there often is uncertainty about the most promising among a set of different treatments. This project will develop methods for estimating treatment effects in after multi-arm multi-stage clinical trials (MAMS) and MAMS studies with multiple endpoints. The project is a cross-institutional initiative between the Statistics Groups at the MRC Biostatistics Unit in Cambridge and the Universities of Lancaster led by Jack Bowden, James Wason  (both Cambridge) and Thomas Jaki (Lancaster).

Throughout the programme there will be opportunities to engage and collaborate with researchers based at both academic groups and partners in industry and clinical trials units.

Applicants should have, or be close to completing, a PhD in Statistics or related discipline. Good programming skills are essential and experience with adaptive or group sequential trials is desirable.
