2012 Sweden: PhD Studentships in Sociology at Stockholm University



Two PhD studentships in Sociology at the Department of Sociology. Reference number SU 617-1212-12. Deadline for applications: May 15, 2012.

Stockholm University hereby invites applications for two positions as doctoral student in Sociology at the Department of Sociology. 

The area for the doctoral studies should preferably be within any of the fields of sociological research represented at the department, see www.sociology.su.se/english/research.

Requirements
To be qualified for doctoral studies in Sociology you need:

a Bachelor´s degree and at least 60 ECTS credits at advanced level.
In section 2 of the Syllabus for doctoral studies in Sociology (view website www.sociology.su.se/english/education/courses-and-programmes/sociology/doctoral-studies) you find the requirements described in detail, together with conditions for students who 2007-06-30 were qualified according to former regulations.

Selection criteria 
The selection among applicants is based on the assessment of the ability to successfully complete the doctoral studies. Special attention is devoted to the quality of theses and other relevant research as well as the research plan for the dissertation.

Conditions for the employment 
The positions cover four years of fulltime studies with wages according to regulations for doctoral student positions.

The application should include (in addition to all mandatory information on the web form):

research plan/project plan: a short description (maximum 1 000 words) outlining the intended field of research for the dissertation and
appendices:
– application for admission to doctoral studies,
– transcript of records and degree certificates, and
– independent projects/essays previous papers (no more than three) including the most recent thesis for degree.
