2012 Canada: The Frank Henry Ralph Pounsett Scholarship Fund
The Frank Henry Ralph Pounsett Scholarship Fund was established in 1998 in memory of the late Frank H.R. Pounsett. Born in London, he moved to Toronto at age seven.
He was a graduate of the University of Toronto and began his career as a radio engineer for DeForest Radio Corporation in Toronto in 1928. He later became chief engineer for the radar division of Research Enterprises Limited, Leaside, Ontario, Canada, where he was responsible for the production design in Canada of all radar equipment for the armed services in World War II. Mr. Pounsett became vice president of the radio and television division at Philips Electronics Industries in Leaside from 1959 until his retirement.

From 1967-71 he served as the first dean of engineering at Centennial College of Applied Arts and Technology in Scarborough, Canada. He was active in the early development of the Ryerson Institute of Technology, School of Electronics. His sister-in-law, Ms. Florence MacLean, established this scholarship.
PURPOSE & OBJECTIVES:
The purpose of the Frank H.R. Pounsett Scholarship Fund is the advancement of postsecondary education for young adults with a physical disability who are served by Easter Seals Ontario or are Easter Seals alumni. This purpose is being achieved by awarding two scholarships in the amount of $1,250 each to two students with physical disabilities who are currently applying to or enrolled in a post-secondary educational facility, i.e. university or ommunity college. Candidates must be residents of Ontario.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Scholarship candidates will be reviewed, qualified and the successful candidate(s) will be selected by the Scholarship Selection Committee of Easter Seals Ontario. Candidates will be given consideration based on the following criteria:
Seeking post-secondary education;
Demonstrate consistent level of scholastic achievement throughout their secondary school curriculum or post secondary curriculum;
Participation in extra curricular activities; and
Served as a model and inspiration to fellow students
Registered with Easter Seals Ontario
Have applied for alternate financial assistance and still require assistance
