2012 Australia, Postgraduate Scholarship in Smart Grids at University of Sydney

A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably qualified candidate with a good honours degree in science or engineering to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in Smart Grids.
The project is to investigate energy management at the residential level. The project aims at developing scalable control architectures to enable seamless integration of distributed energy resources at the residential level in a plug-and-play manner so they can play active role in power system operation. By unleashing the potential of the demand side, the developed algorithms will enable to transformation of conventional demand driven power systems to future generation driven power systems, dominated by intermittent renewable energy sources.

Eligibility:
Applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree in electrical engineering or electronic engineering. Experience/background in power engineering, optimization, control, computational intelligence, and software engineering would be an advantage. International students can apply but the scholarship does not cover any tuition fees payable by international students.

Amount awarded:
The scholarship is valued at $30,000 per annum (tax exempt) and may be renewed for up to three years, subject to satisfactory progress.
