The Renaissance College Scholarships and Financial Aid Programme provides pathways for motivated and talented secondary students who strive for excellence and are empowered to take progressive action.

The objectives of the programme are to encourage and motivate our students to strive for academic excellence and a balanced development, and to ensure students deserving of an excellent education are not constrained by financial considerations.

Full scholarship are attainable for students from Year 7 to Year 13, while financial aid is offered on a needs basis throughout the academic year to all year levels, provided the College has places available.

Scholarship criteria are based on demonstrated academic ability, artistic and creative aptitude, sporting prowess and a commitment to service and leadership.

We accepted our first group of Scholarship Students in 2007. Since then, the programme has expanded dramatically. Renaissance College now boasts more than 140 Scholarship Students.

Academic

Academically talented students often show high levels of abstract thinking, verbal and numerical reasoning, spatial relations, rapid information processing, memory and word fluency. They have the ability to be flexible and cooperative, a commitment to performance and high academic standards.

Students applying for academic scholarships should show a demonstrated ability to foster advanced analytical, critical and creative thinking skills essential to achieving success in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).

A key feature of Renaissance College MYP and DP Programmes is student involvement in the Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS) Programme.

Renaissance College students have the opportunity to become involved in public speaking and debating, sporting and arts competitions and events, student leadership programs, and service to community.

Renaissance College scholarship students should strive to engage in rigorous and stimulating learning and enrichment experiences both within and beyond the classroom.

Music

Renaissance College invites talented music students to apply for Music Scholarships. Students will have access to quality resources, experienced teachers and will be encouraged to develop mentoring relationships with professionals who excel in their chosen field.

Students applying for Music Scholarships should strive to develop their ability and love for music through music creation, analysis, performance and reflection, and by attending a range of professional performances. Talented music students will have the opportunity to pursue music endeavours within and beyond the classroom. Music is timetabled within the regular curriculum but students also have the opportunity to participate in individual instrumental or vocal tuition classes on a user pay basis during and outside school hours.

Drama

Drama Scholarships are offered to students who are likely to make an outstanding contribution to the College in Drama and Theatre Arts. It is expected that the candidates have already made a significant contribution to their present school or local community. Through performance, candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to interpret written material in a dramatic context. They should demonstrate the ability to create and convey character, mood, atmosphere, emotion and narrative with flair and accomplishment.We provide performance-based drama scholarships and also cater for students interested in theatre design and other technical skills.

Visual Arts

Visual Art scholarships honor students who demonstrate outstanding artwork with clear evidence of technical proficiency and a distinctive personal aesthetic. Students are expected to excel in the practice of art and be willing to take part in the co-curricular activities of the art department.

Talented art students at the College will be exposed to a stimulating environment, a multi-disciplinary approach, a wider and deeper understanding of art within its historical context, and a broader sense of career perspectives and opportunities.

Sports

Sports Scholarships are awarded to students in recognition of exceptional achievement in the field of Physical Education and Sports. Prospective candidates must demonstrate high achievement and effort in physical education/athletic programmes, and have a commitment to leading and developing the sport culture at the college.

Upon approval of the scholarship, students must maintain a very high standard in Physical Education classes and/or co-curricular commitments while meeting overall academic standards. They are also expected to continue developing their sporting skills and knowledge beyond school commitments.
