Postdoctoral Position :Tuneable Diode Laser Spectroscopy for Industrial Applications at Empa, Switzerland
Empa is the interdisciplinary research and services institution for material sciences and technology development of the ETH Domain.
The Laboratory for Air Pollution & Environmental Technology has an opening for a research fellow for industrial developments based on diode laser spectroscopy. We are offering following positon
Together with our team at Empa, the ETH spin-off Phocone and a Swiss SME you will develop an optical setup for high-speed detection of organic vapours. Your work will leverage on recently developed VECSELs based on IV-VI narrow-gap semiconductors and on the long experience in mechanics, electronics and optics of the involved partners. This is a 1-year position with options to be extended.
As a successful candidate you have the ability to rapidly design and evaluate optical concepts, test these in a laboratory setup and provide the knowledge to implement your ideas in a harsh industrial environment.
We are looking for a highly motivated scientist, preferably with a PhD in physics or a related discipline, and a thorough background in optics, electronics and laser spectroscopy, as well as a strong interest in instrumental development.
For further information please contact Dr. Lukas Emmenegger, phone +41 58 765 46 99, email: lukas.emmenegger@empa.ch
