International Max Planck Research School offers eight Doctorate Fellowships in Germany – 2011

Eligibility:-Applicants must have or be about to obtain a Master’s degree or a qualification equivalent to the German Diploma in molecular biology, ecology, microbiology, (bio)chemistry, entomology, neuroethology, bioinformatics or a related field.
-The applicant’s academic performance must be excellent.
-Students holding a Bachelor’s degree from a research-oriented institution can also be admitted to the program, if they have shown outstanding ability (e.g. a refereed first author publication).
-In addition, a strong interest in examining traits of ecological interactions with molecular and chemical techniques is required.
Scholarship Open for International Students: Yes
Scholarship Description: Applications will be evaluated by the IMPRS Faculty Admission Committee based on the qualifications, recommendations and your research interests and motivation (please see the research statement and the list of project ideas). To reach a decision with regard to short-listing, pre-selected candidates will be asked for a phone interview in mid-July. Short-listed candidates will be invited to a group recruitment in Jena (August 29-31, 2011). During this time, candidates will have the opportunity to get a closer look at Jena, its historic sites, culture and night life. They will also be introduced to the Friedrich Schiller University, the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology, the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology and the IMPRS family. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.
