University of Central Lancashire International PhD Scholarship:Children as Evaluators of Educational Technology, UK

Applications are invited for a full-time scholarship available in the School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences. The scholarship is tenable for up to 3 years for a PhD (via MPhil route) [subject to satisfactory progress] and is open to international applicants only. UK/EU applicants are not eligible to apply.

The scholarship will provide £15000 towards the cost of the International tuition fee over 3 years.
Project Title: Children as Evaluators of Educational Technology.

Project Description:

This is an opportunity to complete a PhD with the Child Computer Interaction Group (ChiCI group) at the University of Central Lancashire. Child Computer Interaction is a field within Human Computer Interaction (HCI), and the ChiCI Group at UCLan is an international leader in the design and evaluation of children’s technology.

This is a full time PhD opportunity working within a dynamic and innovative research group. This project aims to investigate whether older children can evaluate educational technology designed for younger children if given appropriate tools. This is broken down into 3 research questions:

To what extent can older children evaluate educational technology for younger children?

What methods are suitable to use?

What constructs can be evaluated by children?
Applicants should have, or expect to receive a qualification equivalent to a high class UK honours degree.
