Early stage researcher-PhD Student in the fields of experimental psychophysiology and clinical and health psychology (M/F)

The early stage researcher/PhD student will be a member of the INSIDE research unit (Integrative Research Unit on Social and Individual Development) within the Faculty of Language and Literature,
Humanities, Arts and Education at the University of Luxembourg. The multidisciplinary research unit focuses on psychological, sociological, and educational processes associated with social change phenomena. More specifically, the early stage researcher/PhD student will be involved in the experimental investigation of attentional biases, self-regulation and eating behaviour. We are, therefore, especially interested in receiving applications from candidates with experience in one or more of these areas. He/she will work under the tutelage of Prof. Dr. Claus Vögele, and will complete his/her academic education with the aim of obtaining a PhD. The successful candidate may be expected to carry out some studies abroad.

Activities

  • Writing of a thesis in the domains of Clinical and Health Psychology;
  • Contribute to research in the field of eating related self-regulation and emotion regulation and their cognitive and psychophysiological concomitants;
  • Contribute to teaching in Clinical Psychology and Health Psychology.

Profile

  • Have an outstanding master’s degree or a diploma in psychology;
  • Be experienced in quantitative research methods;
  • an excellent knowledge of theories, models and current experimental research in Clinical and Health Psychology, especially in the area of Eating Disorders;
  • experience in the experimental investigation of cognitive processes and knowledge of psychophysiological methods (peripheral physiology and/or EEG/ERP), and interest in bio-signal processing;
  • good communication skills that enable him/her to support the supervision of undergraduate students.
  • have a sound knowledge of specific software (Office programmes, SPSS, eprime etc.).
The candidate has to integrate into a multilingual research team. He/she must therefore have excellent command of English and be fluent in at least one of the following two languages: French, German (written and spoken).
