PhD Position in Biomolecular Mass Spectrometry, Switzerland
PhD position is immediately open with a Biomolecular Mass Spectrometry Laboratory (LSMB) in Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland.
Study Subject(s):Biomolecular Mass Spectrometry
Course Level:PhD Scholarship Provider: Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL)
Scholarship can be taken at: Switzerland
Eligibility:
Requirements for Ph.D.: complete or last year M.Sc. in biochemistry, bioinformatics, or molecular biotechnology. Practical experience in the field of mass spectrometry and/or protein handling is an advantage. Computer knowledge preferably include programming skills and experience with database searching. Candidates should be proficient in English (speaking and writing), French/German is a plus.
Scholarship Open for International Students: Yes
Scholarship Description: We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is interested in applying his/her basic training in physical, chemical or biological sciences to tackle complex biological problems, particularly in neuroscience, using advanced mass spectrometry. A close collaboration with the Hospital in Lausanne (CHUV) is envisioned. The work will focus on mass spectrometry-based method and technique development for improved proteomics in particular and systems biology in general. Among other goals, the project aims to reveal the specificity of unknown proteases coming from clinical samples, and MS-oriented application of proteases with known activity. The areas of application are electron capture and transfer dissociation tandem mass spectrometry, hydrogen deuterium exchange mass spectrometry, etc. You will work on high-end mass spectrometry platforms, including Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance and orbitrap mass spectrometers.
How to Apply: By Post
Scholarship Application Deadline: July 1st 2011
