2012 Civil Engineering Scholarship for International Students, Australia

Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering Scholarships

Partial fee-waiver scholarships

These scholarships are available to international students taking up courses offered by the faculty. Scholarships between A$3000 and A$6000 are offered as a one-off partial fee waiver for undergraduate courses commencing in 2011.


Eligibility
The scholarship is open to all international students commencing degrees within the Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering in 2011.
Students must have submitted an application and received an unconditional letter of offer by the scholarship closing date for a course commencing in 2011.

How to apply
Applicants must complete a scholarship application form (PDF 66kb) and submit it to intapplication@latrobe.edu.au with a copy of their offer letter.
Please note the subject heading of the application email needs to say ‘Application for FSTE’.
Selection process
Selection is based primarily on academic excellence. Only students with a minimum 70% or equivalent, and who have received an unconditional letter of offer can be considered.
If the overseas grading system does not conform to a 70% equivalent but is still of high standard, students may still be considered.

Civil Engineering scholarship

This scholarship is available to outstanding international high school graduates (70% or above in year 12, or equivalent). The purpose of this scholarship is to attract students to study a Bachelor of Civil Engineering at La Trobe’s regional campus in Bendigo. It offers the opportunity for students to work in a region which currently faces a skill shortage of civil engineers.
The scholarship, worth $20 000 over 4 years (or $5 000 per year, subject to satisfactory progress) will be offered to all students who meet the entry requirements and accept an offer to study the Bachelor of Civil Engineering at the Bendigo campus starting in Semester 1 (March) 2012.
Students applying for this scholarship must meet the following English language requirements:
  • IELTS – a minimum overall band score of 6.0 with no individual band less than 6.0, or
  • TOEFL – a minimum score of 550 with a score of 5 or better in the test of written English, or
  • TOEFL – a minimum score of 233 with a score of 5 in essay writing.

Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Scholarships for Canadian Students, 2010 - 2011

Four scholarships, each valued at A$5000, are available to outstanding international students from Canada who wish to pursue the Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry) in 2010. Subject to applicants of suitable academic merit, the School of Law will award scholarships (in the form of a tuition reduction) as follows:
  • 2 x A$5 000 scholarships in Semester 2, 2011
Eligibility
To be eligible, students must:
  • Hold Canadian citizenship or be a Canadian Permanent Resident;
  • Have completed their undergraduate studies at a Canadian University;
  • Successfully meet the requirements for entry into the Bachelor of Laws and meet minimum standards of language proficiency;
  • Attach a written personal statement (maximum 500 words) to their application addressing their academic merit, what they hope to get out of their study experience at La Trobe, and interest and commitment to promoting La Trobe Law to prospective international students.
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and the written personal statement. Recipients should be willing to participate in promotional activities for the Faculty of Law and Management and the School of Law from time to time.

How to Apply
Students who wish to apply for this scholarship must submit a complete international application for entry into the Bachelor of Laws, accompanied by the written personal statement, to La Trobe International by the following deadlines:
  • 1 May 2011 for entry in Semester 2, 2011
