Undergraduate scholarships in Chemical and Mechanical Engineering are awarded by Chevron Upstream Europe through Chevron’s University Partnership Program.
Chevron and Heriot-Watt University have a relationship stretching back over 30 years covering recruitment, research and knowledge transfer.

Chevron Upstream Europe (CUE), based in Aberdeen, is part of the Chevron Europe, Eurasia and Middle East Exploration and Production Operating Company, one of four operating companies that comprise Global Upstream and Gas.
CUE has an integrated portfolio of upstream assets, ranging from exploration through development to production and decommissioning. It has assets and exploration acreage in the UK, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, Greenland, Poland and Romania.
The business unit employs approximately 1,000 staff and longterm contractors at its onshore locations in the UK, Norway, Denmark the Netherlands and Denmark, offshore in the UK North Sea.

Value and Continuation
Up to eight Chevron Entry and Enhanced Level Scholarships will be awarded in 2011.
- The split between the two Levels and between disciplines will be determined by the University and Chevron based on application numbers and quality.
The Chevron Entry Level Scholarship is valued at up to £5,000.
- Recipients of a scholarship will receive £1,000 in each year on their chosen degree programme with the funds being paid in two parts per academic year, i.e. £500 at the start of Semester 1 and £500 at the start of Semester 2.
The Chevron Enhanced Level Scholarship is valued at up to £6,000.
- Recipients of a scholarship will receive £1,000 in year 3, £2,000 in year 4 and £3,000 in year 5 of their chosen MEng degree programme with the funds being paid in two parts per academic year, e.g. in year 4, £1,000 at the start of Semester 1 and £1,000 at the start of Semester 2.
Award of the Scholarship in future years is contingent upon satisfactory performance and achievement of an average 60% mark in the previous year’s modules.
Eligibility
All applicants must:
- be UK or EU nationals; and
- not be in receipt of a scholarship from an organisation other than Chevron or Heriot-Watt University.
For Entry Level Scholarships, applicants must:
- have accepted an offer to read either Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or Robotics & Cybertronics at Heriot-Watt University; and
- be joining the course in either Yr1 or Yr2
For Enhanced Level Scholarships, applicants must:
- currently be a year 2 student in either Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or Robotics & Cybertronics at Heriot-Watt University; and
- be planning to study an MEng degree programme in either Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or Robotics & Cybertronics
